- I live in Japan, mostly in the forests and mountains. It’s pretty chilly here, especially in winter! I love the snow, and it’s where I thrive.
- Cold Weather Expert: Yep, you heard that right—I’m a cold-weather expert! In fact, I’m one of the northernmost monkeys in the world. When it gets really cold, guess what I do? I soak in hot springs to warm up! It’s so relaxing, you should try it sometime!
- Big Family: I don’t like to be alone. I live in a big group called a troop, where there are sometimes over 100 of us! We help each other find food and stay safe. It's always fun to hang out with my family.
- What I Eat: I’m an omnivore, which means I eat both plants and animals. I munch on fruits, seeds, and sometimes I even snack on insects. Yummy! I’ve also been known to nibble on small animals like crabs, but don’t worry, I’m not a scary hunter!
- My Red Face and Rear: See my red face? That’s one of the coolest things about me! It helps me talk to my troop. We monkeys can make lots of different faces, and my red face shows how I’m feeling. We also have red rears—yep, it's true!
- Playtime: When I'm not eating or soaking in hot springs, I love to play! I chase my friends, wrestle, and explore all over. It’s the best part of my day. Young monkeys like me are always up for some fun!
- I’m a Tool User: Did you know I can use tools? Sometimes I find stones and use them to crack open nuts or get food. Pretty clever, right? My monkey brain is always working!
- Grooming Time: I love keeping clean. I spend a lot of time grooming my friends and family. It’s a great way to stay tidy, and it helps us show how much we care about each other. We groom each other’s fur and even check for tiny bugs!
- Hot Springs Are My Favorite: I’m famous for enjoying hot springs, especially in the winter. After a cold day in the snow, there’s nothing better than relaxing in the warm water. It feels so nice and helps me stay warm!
10. I Stay Close to Mom: When I was little, I stayed really close to my mom. She carried me around until I was big enough to run and play on my own. We monkeys love to be close to our families, and it helps us stay safe.
